Woman dies hours after winning NPP constituency election

The NPP woman died shortly after winning the constituency elections as Women's Organizer
- The woman fell unconscious hours after being sworn into office on Women's Organizer on Saturday
A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Abura-Asebu Kwamankese constituency in the Central Region has been reported dead shortly after winning the party’s election.
Madam Elizabeth Gaisie died hours after being re-elected and sworn into office as the party’s Women’s Organizer on Saturday.

Reports say she died at the Abura Dunkwa District Hospital, minutes after being sworn into office as the NPP constituency Women's Organizer.
According to Citi FM report, Madam Gaisie was the party’s incumbent constituency Women's Organizer and also stood unopposed in the elections held on Saturday.
Madam Aba Hagan, the District Chief Executive of Abura-Asebu Kwamankese, confirmed the death to Citi News.
Another member of the NPP also told Citi News that, Madam Gaisie did not show any signs and was visibly well throughout the election processes.
“She looked visibly well during and after the voting and swearing-in, but just after both the new executives and party members were going back home, she fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital,” he said.
Madam Gaisie’s husband, Andrew K. Mensah, was once a Member of Parliament for the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese Constituency, between 2004 and 2008 on the ticket of New Patriotic Party.
Meanwhile, doctors are yet to conduct an autopsy to determine the sudden cause of her death.
Madam Elizabeth Gaisie passed away at the age of 57 and left behind a husband, and five children.
